Responsibility
We are committed to making E&S an intrinsic part of our business and ensuring that our activities are safe for employees, contractors, the surrounding community, and the environment. Swisstank LLP has always prioritized the safety and environmental aspects of commodity transportation, shipping, and operations, as well as their possible influence on local communities. We’ve invested in a number of physical assets over the last few years, some of which we own outright and others which we own through partnerships. We established an E&S framework that covers all activities to ensure a consistent standard of E&S across the business. Swisstank LLP beliefs and requirements are outlined in the E&S framework, and Swisstank LLP expects all companies in which it has a shareholding to adhere to these or similar standards. However, Swisstank LLP recognizes that its influence will be proportional to its shareholding, as well as other factors.
Environmental Protection
Our actions have a direct and indirect impact on the environment. As a result, we aim to make every effort to establish ourselves as an environmentally responsible firm in our commercial activities – one that has the smallest possible detrimental impact on the environment. We are well aware that our operations may cause environmental dangers, and that we rely on resources such as electricity, water, and construction materials. As a result, we must make every effort now and in the future to minimize any detrimental impact on the environment. We have set high environmental criteria for ourselves in order to achieve this.
Environmental issues are an integral part of our HSSE management system. To reduce detrimental affects, our HSSE policy mandates that we use energy and raw materials efficiently, avoid pollution, and develop environmental consciousness among our staff. We’ve been tracking the frequency and volume of product releases, the amount of energy and water utilized, and the waste generated at our facilities for years, and we’ve developed KPIs to help us better detect and evaluate our progress. In addition, our holding company, Marquard & Bahls, assesses the carbon dioxide (CO2) footprint for the entire group in order to assess our impact on climate change. possible. We have set high environmental criteria for ourselves in order to achieve this.
Health, Safety, Security & Environment (HSSE)
We commit to preventing all accidents, injuries, and occupational illness, as well as protecting the environment, in our HSSE Policy. As a result, we continuously optimize all of our subsidiaries’ activities in terms of technical, organizational, and behavioral safety, and we create a proactive safety culture. The Hamburg-based company’s Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) department establishes guidelines and minimum requirements for all subsidiaries. To achieve continuous improvement, targets are created and performance is benchmarked.
The development of detailed HSSE manuals that are specially adapted to the respective operational units – and on which the sites create appropriate local management systems – is one important approach. A worldwide incident database is a key tool for learning from incidents. All accidents, incidents, near misses, and risky activities and conditions are registered and examined in order to prevent them from happening again. HSSE notifications are prepared as needed, issued to the appropriate facilities, and discussed with our personnel.
Sustainability Strategy
Marquard & Bahls is pursuing a comprehensive sustainability plan to maintain improving our sustainability performance and to focus our actions in our key areas. This strategy is founded on our commitment to sustainability and six strategic action areas, and it supports both the different dimensions of human development and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), to which we have renewed our commitment. We use a variety of mechanisms and metrics to anchor the six core strategic problems outlined above in our global activities. The relevant ideas are reflected in our HSSE Policy to firmly establish responsibility for environmental and social issues at the highest level. Our corporate policies and standards are founded on internationally recognized ethical entrepreneurship principles.
